Experience and care make all the difference
They established Country Meadow Meats in May 2006. Al and Kathy are both graduates of Ridgetown College (1978).
Al has a farming background and previously worked as a livestock feeding consultant. His first job after completing college was as a grading inspector for beef, pork and lamb.
Kathy has a background in laboratory technology in dairy plants and seed corn research. Her farm experience has been in raising and marketing her own lambs, live-sales, on-farm freezer orders and special cuts at farmers markets.
Country Meadow Meats is a small, locally owned abattoir and meat market that is an “A” rated provincially inspected operation. Tuesday is our usual processing day with 14 days as the minimum aging time for beef.
Located 3 km southwest of Owen Sound we provide custom processing of beef, lamb, bison and pork for local producers.
Our store offers the finest in local hormone-free beef, Taylor’s own lamb, Canadian pork, homemade sausages (pork, turkey, lamb), Bavarian hams, Stemmler’s bacon, J-MAR summer sausage, local chicken from Arthur and Harriston and Hayter’s turkey products.
We also offer Mapleton Organic Ice Cream and yogurt, Meredith’s Ginger products, honey, maple syrup, Pine River Cheese, local bison, Just Because Candles, lambskins, wool bankets and Rootham’s Gourmet Preserves.
